About Us

Who is Outdoor Adventure Rafting?

OAR has been running the Ocoee River since 1977. We’re the largest outfitter on the river, have the most certified guides, and the most five-star reviews. But the thing we’re most proud of? We’re still a family business and we treat our guests like family too.

1996
Summer Olympics on the Ocoee

The Olympic whitewater slalom events were held on the Ocoee River in Tennessee during the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. The competition took place in the Ocoee Whitewater Center, which was specially built in the Cherokee National Forest for the games, making it the first time a natural river was used for an Olympic whitewater event.

2018
Save the Ocoee

During the 2018 season, Ocoee rafting was in danger. OAR and the whole Ocoee River community took action in order to preserve the positive influence the river has on the surrounding area and people, renegotiating the expiring contract with Tennessee Valley Authority.
