2026 Release Schedule for the Ocoee Upper, Middle & Lower

Ocoee River Sections

The Ocoee River is split into three sections; the Upper, the Middle, and the Lower. Each section is controlled by a dam that follows an annual water release schedule.

The pre-determined Ocoee Recreational Release Calendar allows for us to plan accordingly and take guests all season long.

Middle Ocoee

The Middle section is considered to be one of the best natural stretches of whitewater in the country, ranked one of America’s Top Ten Rivers for whitewater rafting. This family friendly, action packed portion of the river offers continuous Class III & IV rapids for over 5 miles through the beautiful mountains of Tennessee.

Upper Ocoee

The Upper section is home of the 1996 Summer Whitewater Olympics. This historic location features over 5 miles of back to back Class IV rapids that will get anyone’s adrenaline pumping. Guests have the option of rafting the Upper Section only, or a Full River trip which includes both the Upper and Middle Sections and a catered lunch between the two.

Lower Ocoee

A calmer alternative to the thrills of whitewater, the Lower Ocoee offers scenic flatwater float all the way from the historic Dam 1 to our very own outpost. You don’t have to be 12 for this adventure, providing a great alternative to members of parties who aren’t old enough for rafting. Trips are available in both individual tubes and large lounging group rafts.

The water runs much more frequently than guaranteed, normally flowing in the evenings every day with the final times being posted the day before on the TVA Website.

Many trips on the lower have the potential to be cancelled by TVA as they don’t post their times on certain dates until 6pm the day before. Please check the TVA website here.
